  5. This is a transcription of the original planned ritual for Beltane for
  6. the Shadow Weaver Grove, transcribed with permission by Joseph Teller
  7. of the Wonderland BBS 508-663-6220 WWIVNet Node 5803 for distribution
  8. to the Pagan Community at large. Shadow Weaver Grove can also be

  18. I. Starting the Ritual
  19.  
  20.   A) Processional : (starting Chant {Ku-Wa-Te})
  21.  
  22.      To enter the circle each person must pass through four "gates"
  23.      representing each of the Three Worlds (Land, Sea & Sky) and Fire.
  24.      Each person steps to the first Gate Keeper and is asked: "What do
  25.      you ask of the Gate of Earth (Sea) (Air)?" AN answer is given or
  26.      left unspoken, and the person is marked by the Guardian (with
  27.      mud, water and brush of a feather) and proceeds to the next Gate
  28.      and is questioned again. The Guardian of the last Gate, Fire,
  29.      smudges the person before they enter the circle.
  30.  
  31.      When everyone is in the circle, the chant continues ("Ku-Wa-Te")
  32.      as the Gatekeepers come into the circle and prepare themselves.

  34.   B) Statement of Purpose :
  35.  
  36.      We are here tonight to honor the Goddess Danu, called the
  37.      Earth-mother and to honor the God Belemos, Called the Sun King.
  38.      We honor them and ask them to bless us and rekindle the warmth of
  39.      the world.
  40.  
  41.   C) Centering Meditation:
  42.  
  43.      Group meditation and collective consciousness:
  44.  
  45.      All present are brought together with a group meditation, to form
  46.      a "group-mind"; to help everyone center and bring themselves
  47.      together to work in accord.

  49.   D) Earth Mother Invocation :

  53.             That seed springeth
  54.             That flower openeth
  55.             That grass groweth

  65. II. The Active Ritual
  66.  
  67.     Invocation of Ogma the Gate Keeper or Mannanon in English:

  72.          O Ogma, Lord of the Gates, Lord of Knowledge, open the ways
  73.           for us
  74.          O Mannanon, master of the realm beyond the seas, grant us
  75.            passage to your kingdom.
  76.          O great God of knowledge, we wish to walk your roads.
  77.          Reveal to us your teachings, reveal to us the safe path.
  78.          Come wash the nighttime clean;
  79.          Come Close the gap of darkness in between.
  80.          We praise you for the brightness of your power.
  81.          We praise you for the gift of knowledge.
  82.          Guide us to the place we seek.
  83.          Walk with us Ogma!
  84.          Walk with us Mannanon!

  93.   B) Consecration of the Waters:

  95.      [After each cup is consecrated it is passed around the members of
  96.      the circle so that each may drink from it. When the cup returns
  97.      to the start the remaining liquid is spilled unto the Earth or
  98.      into the fire. Contents may be spring water, or an alcholic brew
  99.      if alcohol it is preferred to have been brewed by a member of the
  100.      Grove.]

  102.      Druid of the Gate of Land:
  103.  
  104.      Spirits of nature, of the trees and rocks, of the animals and
  105.      Earth, give us your favor and your companionship, share with us
  106.      the bond of spirit and of life on Earth. Remember us and speak to
  107.      us in our hearts. Give us your teachings and laughter, become one
  108.      amoung us here tonight, Consecrate these waters.

  119.      and your blessing, become one with us here tonight; Consecrate

  138.   C) Individual Offerings and prayers:
  139.  
  140.      At this point, all present that wish to may make an offering or
  141.      offer prayers. If anyone has an offering or a prayer they would
  142.      like to make they step forward and do so, individual offerings to
  143.      particular patrons or spirit helpers are done at this time.
  144.  
  145.   D) Sacrifice with the Willow Branch:
  146.  
  147.      Gate keeper of fire makes a final offering of a willow branch, to
  148.      send the energy to the deities of the occasion. It is sacrificed
  149.      into the central bonfire.
  150.  
  151.      Gate Keeper of Fire:
  152.  
  153.      Our praise goes up with thee on the wings of eagles; our voices
  154.      are carried up to thee on the shoulders of the wonds. hear now O
  155.      Belemos, O Danu, we pray thee, as we offer up this sacrifice of
  156.      life. Accept it we pray thee, and cleanse our hearts, giving to
  157.      us of your peace and life.

  159.   E) Divination :
  160.  
  161.      A scrying is done with crystal/flame, to find if the gods have
  162.      accepted our prayers and will be with us. If the omen is bad,
  163.      offerings are made again. If they are rejected thrice, the circle
  164.      is broken immediately and the ritual ended.

  166.   F) The Fourth Consecration:
  167.  
  168.      Here the wards are set to protect us during the magic working.

  170.      Druid #1 (Fire):

  172.      We greet you, Brother Wabun, Golden Eagle of the East.
  173.      We ask that you watch over us this night, and share with us your
  174.         wisdom,
  175.      Let your keen vision guide us over the obstacles before us.

  178.         Coyote.
  179.      We ask that you walk with us this night, and guide us as we walk
  180.         this path of learning.

  182.      We greet you, Waboose, White Buffalo Woman of the North, Grace us
  183.         with your company, and walk with us night as we seek the
  184.         wisdom that surrounds us.

  186.      We greet you, brother Mudjekeewis, Great Bear of the West. Walk
  187.         with us this night and aid us in our journey to wisdom.

  189.      At this time, would each of you please meditate on your personal
  190.         needs and desires.

  192.   G) Induction of Receptivity : (Litany of the Waters)

  194.      [D1 can be Guardian of Fire, D2 can be the Group response. If the
  195.      group doesn't know the responses one of the other guardians
  196.      should lead them into them]

  198.      D1: Of what does the Earth-Mother give, that we may know of the
  199.          continual flow and renewal of life?
  200.      D2: The waters of Life.
  201.      D1: From whence do these waters flow?
  202.      D2: From the bosom of the Earth-Mother, the ever changing
  203.          All-Mother
  204.      D1: And how do we honor this gift that causes life?
  205.      D2: By partaking of the waters of life.
  206.      D1: Has the Earth-Mother given forth her bounty?
  207.      D2: She has
  208.      D1: Then give me the waters!

  210.      Final consecration and sharing: A fourth cup is consecrated.

  212.      O Belemos, O Danu, hear us and answer us! Hallow these waters! We
  213.      your children have praised you, and now we ask from you healing,
  214.      blessing, power and inspiration...Behold the waters of life!

  218. III. The Work of The Circle
  219.  
  220.   A) The Magic Working:

  222.      Tonight we pray for the prosperity of all those here. May our
  223.      fortunes increase, may the Goddess and God smail on our endeavors
  224.      and bring us good luck in all that we do.
  225.  
  226.      We ask that you bless these small tokens of our wishes, and grant
  227.      us the success that we ask for.

  230.      general prosperity were passed around so that all might add
  231.      energy to it}

  233.   B) Affirmation of Success:

  237.          alert to the needs of their people.
